Questions and conversations regarding dental health have surfaced in recent weeks and with many of us unable to access dental care during this time I though I might share this practice with you.
Oil Pulling is folk remedy rooted in the system of Ayurvedic Medicine.
Traditionally, oil pulling involves the use of sesame oil; however, substitutions with olive, sunflower or coconut oil can be done depending on preference and availability. All of these oils are antimicrobial and contain antioxidants like Vitamin E.
Β
Oil Pulling is helpful for:
β³ Cavity prevention
β³ Bad Breath
β³ Bleeding Gums
β³ Painful Gums
β³ Dry Mouth
β³ Cracked Lips
β³ Whitening Teeth
β³ Gum Recession
β³ Removing toxins
β³ Promoting longevity
What do you do?
β³ Oil pulling can be done at any time, but it has been traditionally practiced in the morning on an empty stomach prior to brushing your teeth.
β³ Use about 1 tablespoon of oil in your mouth and swish it around for 10-15 minutes.
β³ Get ready to work those muscles of the mouth and jaw, it gets tiring after a bit.
β³ After a while the oil will become viscous and should be spit in the garbage once done (donβt clog the drains!)
β³ Following this, rinse your mouth with some water.
Have you tried this practice before? What is your favorite oil to use?
I like coconut and olive oil best β₯
