Questions and conversations regarding dental health have surfaced in recent weeks and with many of us unable to access dental care during this time I though I might share this practice with you.

Oil Pulling is folk remedy rooted in the system of Ayurvedic Medicine.

Traditionally, oil pulling involves the use of sesame oil; however, substitutions with olive, sunflower or coconut oil can be done depending on preference and availability. All of these oils are antimicrobial and contain antioxidants like Vitamin E.

Oil Pulling is helpful for:

⊳ Cavity prevention

⊳ Bad Breath

⊳ Bleeding Gums

⊳ Painful Gums

⊳ Dry Mouth

⊳ Cracked Lips

⊳ Whitening Teeth

⊳ Gum Recession

⊳ Removing toxins

⊳ Promoting longevity

What do you do?

⊳ Oil pulling can be done at any time, but it has been traditionally practiced in the morning on an empty stomach prior to brushing your teeth.

⊳ Use about 1 tablespoon of oil in your mouth and swish it around for 10-15 minutes.

⊳ Get ready to work those muscles of the mouth and jaw, it gets tiring after a bit.

⊳ After a while the oil will become viscous and should be spit in the garbage once done (don’t clog the drains!)

⊳ Following this, rinse your mouth with some water.

Have you tried this practice before? What is your favorite oil to use?

I like coconut and olive oil best β™₯
